Liberty University was founded in 1971 by the late Reverend Jerry Falwell and has grown to become the world’s largest Evangelical Christian University. Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, LU strives to uphold the tradition of evangelical institutions of higher education. Their mission is to “develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world”. The combined residential and online enrollment is 60,000 students.

Liberty University offers 71 majors and specializations including Philosophy and Religion, English, Worship and Music Ministry, Business, Aeronautics, Criminal Justice, Nursing and Education. 36 Programs are available through distance learning. The University is home to the School of Aeronautics, the School of Law, the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences, the School of Education, School of Business and a Theological Seminary. Both undergraduate and graduate degrees are availabledepending on the chosen program.

Residential students are required to attend convocation three times per week. These convocations feature speakers from different aspects of professional life, musicians and entertainments and feature praise and worship activities.

The Liberty Flames play football in the NCAA Division I-AA. Other sports at the University compete in NCAA Division 1. They are a member of the Big South Conference for 18 sports. Williams Stadium is currently undergoing a remodel which will expand it from 12,000 seats to 30,000 seats in the future.

The ever-expanding list of campus amenities include swimming pools, basketball courts, weight rooms, cafes, private theatre and various multi-purpose rooms. For outdoors enthusiasts, the campus includes a 60 mile mountain bike trail, a motor cross facility, paintball fields and archery range. Intramural sports are available and include ice hockey in the new ice rink. Construction is also underway on a skip slope adjacent to the campus which will be the focal point of an outdoor sports park.
